summer but these camps are a chance to play your instrument, meet new friends
and stay in shape for next year.
Band Camp!
This

the summer but these camps are a chance to play your instrument, meet new
friends and stay in shape for next year.
LISD Summer Band
Camp
This
camp is a day camp with one band geared towards students who have just
completed beginning band and one geared towards students who have already
played for at least two years. The
Advanced band meets from 8:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. The Intermediate band meets from 1:00 P.M. – 4:30
P.M. The camp is June 3-7 will meet at
Flower Mound High School. The cost for
this camp is $75. The registration form
is attached.
WTAMU Summer Band
Camp
This
camp is a residential camp that is located in Canyon, Texas. The dates are July 7-19. Over 1000 band camp students will live in the
college dorms and eat in the college cafeteria.
Students will have 5 hours of classes each day consisting of an
instrument class, ensemble class and full band that meets each day. Each camper will also take at least one and
up to three electives through out the afternoon. Also, students will have a 7:00 P.M. activity
every night. These activities include
master classes with professional musicians, large mass ensembles and concert
performances. More information is
available at http://www.wtamu.edu/academics/band-camp.aspx . The cost for this camp is $965. This cost includes all meals, housing and activities
and breaks down to $80.50 per day which is an incredible value compared to
other residential summer activities. Mr.
Cooley will be at this camp.
WTAMU Band Camp
Scholarship
We
do have a scholarship available for the WTAMU Band Camp. One student will be selected to receive a
scholarship to pay the fee for the camp.
The requirements for the scholarship are below.
1. The family of the
student who is selected must provide transportation to and from camp for their
student.
2. The student must
be in band for the entire year following attending camp.
3. In order to be
selected for the scholarship, a student will need to write a 1-2 page essay
about what band has taught them and how band is good for them and their
future. Mr. Cooley will give the essays
to the person who is providing the scholarship and that person will choose the
winner of the scholarship.
4. Essays must be
turned in to Mr. Cooley no later than Wednesday April 24.
